The ‘extensive’ Green Roof Outfitters’ module is approximately 24” x 24” x 4” (4sf of area), has built-in handles on all four sides and weighs 3.6 lbs. The weight of the extensive module with all components (module, filter fabric, soil media & plants) is approximately 15 lbs/sf (drained) and approximately 20 lbs/sf (saturated). An ‘extensive’ green roof is the term for growing ground cover and smaller plants, and is typically 2” to 4” in depth. An ‘intensive’ green roof is the term for growing larger plants and small trees. Intensive green roofs can have depths from 8” to 36”, depending on the requirement of the planted material, and produce much heavier loads.
